A Travel Tip Review From Bill Bailey Travel
We work hard, save hard and expect to enjoy the most of our travel experiences. Though many travel to simply get away, others are looking to make more of their trip. One way travelers can do this is to really experience a destination. Explore areas and destinations like a local, see the local sites and enjoy the local experiences. Not only will you likely save money, but are much more likely to have a unique experience, a true travel experience. Take a look at some of the ways you can travel more like a local.
Slow down – Rather than just hopping the local high speed charters and other services meant to get you from point a to b quickly, slow down and stop and smell the roses. Choose the slower boats, try the trolleys and hop a bus, you will likely be glad you did when you see more of the country.
Eat like a local – While most countries around the world offer major chain restaurants which we are all used to, they also offer amazing foods prepared with local ingredients, in a local style by local hands. Not only is this key to sustainable tourism, but it further offers you the chance to experience a different side of the area, the local customs and traditions.
See the popular local sights – Not just those popular with tourists, but those popular with the locals as well. From local parks, to local pubs, take a hint from the locals. If it is worth your money than the locals will think so too. Check out the popular sites, but leave plenty of time to see the lesser known places as well.
Go during the less popular times of year – The key to seeing an area like a local is to make sure you are not surrounded by tourists. Take it from me, visit during the less popular seasons of the year to see the city more like a local.
