Bill Bailey Travel Club Tips On Travel Abroad

Posted on 02.21.11

Traveling abroad can be a very rewarding experience. Visiting exotic destinations, experiencing new and different cultures and exploring the world is an amazing way to relax and rejuvenate your mind. However, it can often be a hassle preparing for a trip outside of the country. Much more planning has to go into your trip and as such, Bill Bailey Travel Club would like to offer you some tips on how to prepare for travel abroad. Make the most of your vacations by being prepared with Bill Bailey Travel Club.

Make sure you have a signed and valid passport and visa before you travel. If you have not had a passport before, you should start planning well in advance to avoid having to pay rush fees on your passport. In addition, make sure you have copies of your passport on hand and that the emergency information is filled out completely.

Leave copies of your passport and itinerary with family or friends back home. This will ensure that someone you trust will know where you are and how to contact you in case of an emergency.

Check your medical coverage. No one expects to get sick or injured while traveling, but if you are not prepared, you could suffer significant financial loss if you are not covered by your insurance. If it does not cover you overseas, you may want to consider a supplemental insurance.

Know your area before you go. Become familiar with traditions and customs in the area as well as checking the current status on travel to the area from travel.state.gov. Make sure you follow all laws and regulations when traveling outside of the U.S. Laws can be quite different in other countries and pleading ignorance to the rules will not get you off.

Remember you are in charge of your own safety. The U.S. government is there to help you if you find yourself in an emergency, but in reality, you are your own best protector. Travel smart, avoid looking like a tourist, do not put yourself in dangerous situations and use your common sense when traveling.

Consider signing up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. This program is a free program that allows the U.S. Government to be aware of your travel plans in order to more easily assist you in case of emergencies such as natural disasters or unexpected occurrences while you are traveling abroad. Your information in private and can not be release without your expressed written consent.

Bill Bailey Travel Club encourages you to travel smart by being an informed traveler. Use these tips to help you better plan for your vacation abroad and travel more safely.
